Jamming with TW AUDiO in Setia Alam, Malaysia

Hot Kool Jam, a joint concert by local radio stations Kool FM and Hot FM, took place on the 26th of March 2016 at Setia City Park, Setia Alam.

A variety of different artists kept the crowd entertained from afternoon until midnight. Radio DJs from both radio stations took turns hosting the show. The concert was streamed live on YouTube while local television stations, TV3 and TV9, ran repeats the week after. The show ended on a high note with performances by local rock band Bunkface, and rock legends
M. Nasir and Amy from Search.

The sound system for the event was provided by Fajar Baiduri Events Sdn Bhd (FBE), a local rental company who bought a large number of TW AUDiO’s VERA36 and S33 last year. The setup included 12 x VERA36 aside and 20 x S33 subwoofers. 6 x BSX subwoofers provided extra infra (60-27Hz) sub sound and energy for the show. The PA was powered by 11 x Lab.gruppen PLM Amps. 14 x C15 and 2 x C12 served as monitors for the artists, powered by 6 x Powersoft K3DSP.

TV3 audio director, ‘Wak’ Mohd Zaidi Mohamed Taib, was sceptical when he first saw the setup. He asked Augustine Edward, TW AUDiO’s technical support, if the small loudspeakers were enough to cover the audience of 8000. Mr. Edward suggested that
Mr. Wak listen to the VERA36 system during soundcheck before making any changes.
Mr. Wak’s comment after soundcheck:  “I was standing 80-90 meters away from the stage, smiling. What can I say? It is all there, all the frequencies, all the instruments, everything is clear and defined. This PA sounds really great.”

Muhammad Zunnun, TV3’s audio executive, was in charge of mixing monitors for the concert. “There was so much level and quality coming out of the speakers, really amazing. The musicians were impressed by the sound on stage”, he said when asked for comments on his experience with TW AUDiO.
