Morjana Club Installation in Dubai

United Arabian Emirates: Pulse Middle East has installed Dubai’s Morjana nightclub with a TW Audio sound system powered by Powersoft’s processor-controlled K3 amplifiers. All the audio, A/V and lighting equipment for the ocean themed venue was supplied by local distributor Pro Lab Trading.

Morjana is owned by music producer and professional DJ, Mohamad Kraidie, who also runs Diablo Club. Having previously worked with Pulse at Diablo, Mr Kraidie again called on the company’s services for this new venture. ‘We decided to plan something that would be different from any other club,’ said Joe Chidiac, audio specialist and managing partner at Pulse, who co-designed the system with colleague, Rami Haber. ‘The owner likes to work with us as he trusts our vision and the designs that we can provide.’

The plan was for the quick installation of a high-end sound, light and LED screens solution meeting a sensible budget. With a 45-day window to complete the installation, a close cooperative working relationship with Jaafar Daher, owner of architects JD Design, and other contractors was essential.

The club was acoustically optimised by Matthew Carter of Acoustic Logic, who reviewed the audio design and tested for room reverberation before delivering complete isolation for Morjana. The installed system features 12 custom-made, white TW Audio T24P dual 12-inch horn loaded enclosures, with 14 B30 dual 15-inch hybrid subwoofers, four B15 15-inch front loaded subwoofers and a single BSX dual 21-inch infra sub, as well as a pair of C15/B15 reference monitors. The entire system is controlled by 12 of Powersoft’s flagship K3 DSP+AESOP 2800W 2-channel amplifiers. Using TW factory presets, audio is routed and remote controlled and monitored by Armonía Pro Audio Suite 2.4.1 software.

‘Since the venue struggled with sufficient available power to feed all the A/V and lighting equipment, the fact that Powersoft K3 DSP+AESOP saved 40 per cent on the power consumption compared with other well-known brands was a real bonus. In fact the client didn’t believe that it could produce and handle so much power in just 1RU — even driven at 2-ohms,’ said Mr Chidiac. ‘That a quarter size rack could power such a massive installation, and one of the largest clubs in the UAE is amazing! The benefits were clear from both an installer and integrator point of view.

‘With the built-in DSP, we just needed to link the amplifiers together in stereo mode, back to the DJ booth without going through any external processors,’ continued Mr Chidiac. ‘Each K3 channel can be controlled individually and the complete sound processing tailored without getting limited to a specific control mode.’
