“Germany, TW AUDiO - 12 Points” Charlotte Evans, Uriah Heep front-of-house engineer

Dormagen/Zons open air theater in Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany has seen many years of use for children’s fairytale performances. However, once a year the location is transformed into an atmospheric rock concert venue.
Dormagen-based Coma media GmbH has been solution provider for artists such as Barclay James Harvest, Fish, Maceo Parker, Sweet, Ten Years After, ViVid, Selig, Bürger Lars Dietrich and Jazzkantine at the open air theater.
Coma’s Oliver Schmitz has been an enthusiastic TW AUDiO user since 2008. His company was tasked with staging performances by Uriah Heep and Manfred Mann’s Earth band on two consecutive days.
Michael Möhlke of TW AUDiO customer support provided assistance from the planning phase all the way through to the event itself, using EASERA Systune to pre-plan system deployment tailored to the venue’s characteristics. The theatre is built as an atrium with semi-circular banked seating rising up from the stage at an angle of roughly 120 degrees. This means the front-of-house position is 5 meters above stage level. Not your everyday PA job, but a formidable challenge. Using a total of 16 VERA10 modules as main PA and one T24 per side as out-fills provided optimum mid-high coverage, while 2 BSX and 4 B30 subwoofers produced an ample bass foundation.
As Neuss Grevenbroicher Zeitung noted on 23 August, “giants of rock Uriah Heep and Manfred Mann’s Earth Band made the earth move on two sold-out nights (2400 visitors) at the open air theatre.”
Charlotte Evans, Uriah Heep front-of-house engineer for almost 20 years, was most impressed with VERA10 and the new BSX subwoofers, awarding our product with “Germany, TW AUDiO, 12 points”.
Audience members also praised sound quality after both shows.
Our thanks go to Coma media for an excellent team effort!
